FAQ

A few Questions and Answers!

Q: Does Trainpicture.net pay me for uploading content to the site?
A: Unfortunatley not, Trainpicture.net does not offer any kind of payment for the uploading of content to the site, we currently offer FREE accounts to users to host their collections and help them archive it and quite possibly help generate interest in particular collectors items. But we do not pay for any usage of content uploaded by you (the user). For more information please read our User Agreement.

Q: I took some photos at a museum, can I upload these?
A: No, not unless you have permission (written) from the museum or owner of the items or pictures. For further information on this please read the User Agreement. Some private and public museum artifacts and collections on display are protected and therefore cannot be publicly displayed without the owners permission, so please be careful to ensure you have permission or own the items in the photos you are uploading!

Q: Can I upload photographs of scenery and stuff?
A: Not really, if we see any uploads that are not considered to railways such as a photo of a sunset or a snap of you and your friends on a night out, its more than likely going to be deleted off the site as we need to keep room on our server for actual railway pictures, any user who keeps uploading such photos will eventually have their account deleted with Trainpicture.net and any user who uploads inappropriate or illegal material will be reported to the relevant authorities.

Q: I'm not sure I own the copyright to a photo I want to upload?
A: Copyright can be a confusing subject but the best way to ensure your not infringing anyone elses copyright is by knowing whether or not you took the photograph and/or if you own the item in the photograph. If so then you own the copyright to that image (but any brands or trademarks contained within that image are the property of their respective owners). If you didn't take the photograph and know who did then you'll need their permission to use it or if you just took the photograph from google or the internet, you don't own it and someone else does and you should not upload this as you will be infringing someone else copyright and you maybe liable if any costs are inccured to Trainpicture.net as a result of this. For further information please search online for Copyright laws specific to your area.

Q: What's the point of this site?
